love and whales

So, I’ve been terribly slacking in the blog area but cannot miss to document our epic 7th anniversary, 2 night get-away. We had not been on a getaway without the kiddos in about 3 years so you can imagine we relished every minute of it. The simple pleasures of being able to finish a sentence without being interrupted, sleep in past 6 am and walk on high cliffs overlooking the sea without fear of little people taking a tumble over the edge were precious. It was simply icing on the cake that it happened to be breeding/mating time for the whales so they came in so close to shore that we could hear them singing and watch them jumping in the waves.

Hermanus, a small seaside town about one and half hours from us, is beautiful year round but spring time is something special with the whales around and the wild flowers in bloom.

Here are some shots for your enjoyment…

7 years later and he still loves his wife… even has the shirt to prove it!

view from our guest house balcony.. we could see the whales even from here!
